Since summer 2019, I have been working with Egyptian women in football in colllaboration with Empower X Zed FC in Cairo.

As a former tennis player. I believe in the formative role of physical education and sports. I wanted to focus on football in particular because even though it’s the most popular sport in Egypt, most Egyptians still insist it’s “a man’s game”, this also reflects on the level of funding allocated to women’s football.

The younger generations are more daring and breaking stereotypes, and women’s football in Egypt continues to grow, despite the lack of funding, and intergration of sports in school systems. Accesibility and sustaining a career in football remain unresolved issues.
